Chievo at ATALANTA – Atalanta’s road woes are well documented, where they have managed just 2 wins in 14 games. On the other hand, at home, they remain one of the most difficult teams to play against. In 15 games, they have won 5, lost 2, and drawn 8. Impressive is their goal production in those 15 games, a healthy 27 goals. Against Chievo, the home side will deploy the "trident" or 4-3-1-2, with Doni anchoring Zampagna and Ventola. Chievo is not a good road team with just 2 wins, 4 draw, and 7 losses, in 13 games. Defense more effective against teams who play tactical 4-4-2, and this is unfortunate, as Atalanta likes to run and penetrate with long passes. Currently amidst longest win drought of the season (10 games), home side came to life last week against Fiorentina, coming back from 2-0 deficit to earn 2-2 draw. Chievo will prove to be a difficult first half opponent, but Atalanta’s superior offensive talent could break open the game in the second, as Chievo’s defense lacks the 90+ minutes stamina.
The play:
ATALANTA -0.5 +113 (8.5 units)
ATALANTA over 2 and 2.5 -110 (4 units)
AS Roma at CATANIA – Last time Roma found itself in this type of scenario was prior to the Lyon game in Champions League with Ascoli as the opponent. Spalletti made a rare game mistake by deciding to rest the "Core" for the Lyon game, only to be forced to insert them late in the second half to press for the equalizer against an Ascoli side that had maintained a 1-0 nil lead. He won’t make that mistake today. In the first leg at L’Olimpico, Roma dismantled Catania 7-0. Visitor has way too much firepower for a Catania squad who is in complete and utter disarray. There is no let-down here, as Spaletti will seek the victory to maintain morale in preparation for the Manchester U game.
The play:
As Roma -0.5 -102 (7.5 units)
Inter Milan at REGGINA – I’m not saying Reggina could upset Inter Milan. Although, I must admit the thought did cross my mind. One side will be disinterested, the other will fight for 90 minutes as it is desperate to avoid Serie B relegation. Reggina is a tough team who has already brought down a few notables on the home court (Roma 1-0, Empoli 4-1, and draws against Fiorentina and Palermo). If not the win, I sense the draw.
The play:
Reggina +0.5 and +1 -126 (5 units)
Cagliari at PALERMO – Cagliari has managed to score mere nine goals in 13 road efforts, and have managed to produce 6 draws and a single victory. Palermo, despite the recent slide, remains one of the most dangerous scoring teams on home soils with 30 goals in 15 games. Am convinced that an opening goal in the first half by the home side could generate the Krakatoa effect, with a full-fledged blow out produced in the second.
PALERMO -0.5 and -1 +102 (9 units)
PALERMO over 2 and 2.5 -102 (6.5 units)
Other notables without the write-up:
Livorno at PARMA
LIvorno pk and +0.5 +112 (6.5 units)
Empoli at AC MILAN
Empoli +1 -110 (4 units)
Torino at SAMPDORIA
SAMPDORIA -0.5 +105 (4 units)
SAMPDORIA over 2 and 2.5 +107 (4.5 units)
Sorry, no Fiorentina or Lazio in my Serie A menu. They look way too easy, especially Lazio.
Good luck,
MA
